The Truth Sets You Free

 2 Timothy 2: 25b-26 "....so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will."

 Have you ever seen a dazed or unresponsive person come to their senses after Ammonia Smelling Salts were waved in front of them? Perhaps some of us may be in a daze also and sometimes feel like we just need to snap out of it too? If so, we can smell the aroma of the Word of truth and wake up and come to our senses and escape what is trying to hold us captive.

 Truth wakes us up. It pulls us out of a slumber and causes us to see clearly. When we know the truth, it sets us free (John 8:32). Truth is something that we can stand on.  It is unaltering. Our opinion of truth doesn't change it from being true.  It never fades or changes with the culture.  Below are a few scriptures of what truth is:

 TRUTH IS:

·      God's Word is truth and is sharper than a two-edged sword: Hebrews 4:12a "For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword,". 

·      Jesus is truth and He leads the way to the Father: John 14:6 "Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.""

·      Part of our Armor and helps us to stand in the evil day: Ephesians 6:13-14  "Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,.."

·      Brings light and guidance to our lives. Psalm 119:105 "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."  

 REFLECTION PRAYER:

Father, I humble my heart and receive the truth woven throughout Your Word.  Please reveal to me any untruth in my thoughts and life so I can be set free, for Your Word says in John 8:32 "and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
